When rescuers first discovered Robbie and his sister in the woods, their hearts sank. The puppies were not only starving- they were covered in bite wounds.

With no way of knowing how the puppies had been injured, they quickly rushed them to the vet for urgent treatment.

Poor Robbie's tail was so infected, it had to be amputated.

Safe at last

Once out of surgery, the puppies were taken to their rescuer's sanctuary in Calabria, southern Italy. And with plenty of love and attention, they quickly blossomed into happy, loveable youngsters, full of curiousity and enthusiasm about the world around them.

Amber was soon adopted, and travelled to her new home in the UK. But for her brother Robbie, things have been a little harder.

Robbie is now being fostered in the UK. @Rescue Me Dogs UK/ Facebook.

With no family of his own, kind volunteers decided to foster Robbie, offering him the chance to experience life in a home.

Waiting for his family to find him

While he may not yet have his humans, Robbie has wasted no time making friends in the UK.

This loving Retriever mix is a joy to have around. Lead-trained, housetrained and great with other dogs, his foster carers have no doubt he will make a wonderful companion.

Robbie could happily share his home with children. @Rescue Me Dogs UK/ Facebook.

And with his loving, gentle nature, he's melted the hearts of everyone he meets.
