A relieved Derbyshire woman has finally been reunited after her beloved cat went missing from a North Yorkshire service station over two months ago.

Kimberley Smith was devastated when her cat, Suki, slipped out of her harness and fled into nearby woods during a rest stop at Scotch Corner on the A1.

The incident occurred while Kimberley moved from Kilmarnock in Scotland to Ripley in Derbyshire.

Heartbroken owner

Despite Kimberley returning to the area multiple times to look for her and leaving food, Suki remained elusive. “I was heartbroken,” Kimberley said. “I couldn’t stay all day, but leaving her was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

Two and a half months later, Kimberley received a call from Wear Referrals in County Durham to let her know the wonderful news that Suki had been found.

Happy ending

The clinic traced her through details on Suki’s microchip, which was registered with a Scottish veterinary practice.

Kimberley was overjoyed to be reunited with her feline friend: “I couldn’t stop crying. When I finally held her, it was like having a piece of my heart back.

Suki is now safely home and adjusting well, all thanks to the magic of microchipping!
