Last August, Dr Michele Forbes stepped in to help Bonnie, a dog suffering from severe illness.
Her owner, unable to afford the steep veterinary costs, had contacted several clinics for assistance. Only Dr Forbes responded, determined not to leave the dog and her owner without help.
Seriously ill
Bonnie had been vomiting, refused to eat, and had a dangerously high fever of 104°F. She required almost a week of hospitalisation, which totalled $8,500 (£6,600).
Faced with these mounting expenses, Dr Forbes turned to TikTok, hoping to raise funds to cover the cost of treatment.
Donations poured in
To her amazement, Bonnie's story quickly went viral, and donations poured in. "I was blown away by the response," Dr Forbes said. "Everyone who donated saved Bonnie's life."
With the funds raised, Bonnie received the vital care she needed. Dr Forbes later shared a heartfelt video expressing her gratitude to the donors and showing the emotional reunion between Bonnie and her owner.
