When they first found the puppy lying in the snow, the couple feared he may not make it.
He was lifeless and frozen, and they knew it would take lots of love and care to give him the best possible chance.
A mission to save him
Once home, the couple did everything they could to revive the puppy.
Warmth, milk and lots of cuddles worked wonders, and before long he was thriving. He quickly became a much-loved member of the family, even forming a bond with their young daughter.
Doubt creeps in
It wasn't until they noticed the puppy getting bigger and bigger, that the family began to wonder who it was they had welcomed into their home.
Was it really a dog they shared their lives with, or was he something else entirely?
As doubt began to creep in, they noticed other signs that something wasn't quite right.
Their new companion seemed particularly interested in eating raw meat, and every so often he would run into the garden to howl - a deep, melancholy howl that called out into the wild.
It turned out that they had actually taken home a wolf cub. And he was turning into a huge, majestic adult wolf before their eyes!
