A beloved tortoiseshell cat named Rosie died earlier this year, at the incredible age of 33 - the equivalent of 152-years-old in human years.

The official title as ‘world’s oldest cat’ may be held by 28-year-old Flossie from Kent, but it seems Rosie unofficially took the title when she passed away in June.

The Ragdoll cross was adopted by her owner Lila when she was a tiny kitten back in 1991. Lila never imagined she would get to spend so long with her four-legged friend, yet the inseparable duo had over three decades together.

Lasting love

Rosie spent the first months of her life in a home, but when one of the children she found herself in need of somewhere else to go. Thankfully, animal lover Lila heard of her story, and immediately agreed to take her in.

Speaking of her beloved companion before her death, Lila explained, “She’s quite a character. Rosie sleeps by the window all day, and like clockwork, she will have some food and use her litter tray. There’s no need for an alarm clock”.

Rosie loved her routine and her food. In fact, Lila once shared that the fussy feline would “kick up a fuss” if she was offered anything but Purina One, which she loved until the very end.

A life well lived

In the end, Rosie passed peacefully with her favourite person by her side.

“She wasn’t very well and one day she just walked into the hallway of the house, laid down and passed away”, Lila recalled.

She may be heartbroken, but the devoted owner is thankful for the many years of happiness they shared.

“There were lots of good memories though, and I’m happy we had our time together”.
