A TikTok user got more than she bargained for when she filmed her cat's "cute" meows, only to discover her pet was alerting her to an uninvited visitor.

Alex, who goes by @palwpfiction on the platform, shared the now-viral video featuring her cat, Azula, persistently meowing.

Initially thinking her pet's sounds were just adorable, Alex soon noticed the cause: a small bat hiding inside her chandelier.

Early Halloween visitor

The unexpected visitor prompted Alex to joke, "Just in time for Halloween," while reassuring viewers that everyone in the house was vaccinated against rabies.

The video has attracted over 7 million views and more than 10,000 comments, with users amused by Azula's attempts to get her owner's attention.

One viewer commented, "She's stressed because you're not listening. " Another wrote, "The bat is super adorable."

Bye bye bat

Several users shared similar experiences with their own pets. One person said, "Whenever my cat fixates on something, I know to check it out." Another added: "You handled this better than I did when I found my cat with a bat in the living room."

Alex reassured viewers that the bat was safely removed while her followers applauded her calm reaction to the surprise encounter.

We are not sure we would be quite so relaxed about it!
