It's no surprise that Palla's story went viral back in 2016, when the brown Pit Bull Terrier was found with a deformed head.
This was the result of unthinkable cruelty, at the hands of those who were supposed to care for her.
Palla's shocking story
Palla was found in Italy, with a head so swollen it looked like a football.
This is how she got her name, but she was in such a bad way when she first arrived with the vet team, they couldn't even tell what breed she was.
Fortunately the Duemari clinic in Oristano was on hand to help, and they quickly got to work removing the tight rope she had around her neck.
Love at first sight
The operation was a great success. And as soon as the swelling had gone down, it was clear to everyone that Palla was in fact a beautiful brown Pit Bull.
Palla wasn't just taken to safety the day she was found in the field. It also marked the beginning of a brand new life for the sweet girl, who was adopted by her vet Monica Pais.
Now, the pair travel Italy, teaching everyone about how life changing rescue work can be.
