Maddie, the Golden Retriever, loves Fridays. Why? Because it’s bin day, of course!

This one-year-old pup has become a social media sensation for her heartwarming routine of greeting bin workers every Friday in east Belfast.

Bin day besties

Videos of the adorable Golden Retriever eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bin lorry have gone viral, amassing over 10 million views on Instagram. The clips show Maddie joyfully wagging her tail as the Belfast City Council workers stop to stroke her during their weekly rounds.

Maddie’s owner, Katelin Fiddis, describes her as a dog who craves attention and loves meeting people.

Adorable Friday routine

The ritual began when Maddie started sitting at the edge of her family’s raised garden, perfectly positioned to receive affection from the workers without them needing to bend down.

The rubbish collectors seem to enjoy it as much as Maddie. They note that she’s the friendliest dog on their route, and seeing Maddie has become a cherished part of their Friday routine.

The Fiddis family, surprised by the global response to the videos, has embraced Maddie’s newfound fame. What began as a light-hearted Instagram account for friends has blossomed into a platform bringing joy to viewers worldwide.
