Inside the fenced area, six large puppies roamed alone, with no owners in sight. A handwritten note revealing a sad story was taped to the gate.
Heartbreaking note
"Dear person who finds these dogs," the note said.
"I rescued them from an old lady with too many dogs. This is the safest place I could think of for them. I hope they find homes."
The resident contacted the Morrisville Borough Police Department (MBPD), who quickly arrived at the park. Officers found the six puppies running freely and awaited the arrival of the Bucks County SPCA.
While waiting, police examined the note and learned more about the dogs' past. The note indicated that the puppies were taken from a previous owner who couldn't care for them, and the rescuer, unable to keep them due to apartment rules, left them at the park, hoping they would be discovered and adopted.
Happy ending
The MBPD expressed concern for the animals still with the original owner, emphasising that while abandoning animals is unacceptable, addressing the larger issue is important.
By the time the SPCA arrived, neighbours had already adopted three puppies. The remaining three were taken to the Bucks County SPCA, where they are now awaiting adoption.
The MBPD continues to investigate the situation and urges anyone witnessing animal neglect or abuse to contact local authorities immediately.
Good luck, puppies!
