Abandoned at a local park with no food or water, he was found by a compassionate family who brought him to the shelter.
Twice left heartbroken
Stanford quickly bonded with his rescuers, who planned to adopt him. They completed the adoption paperwork and bid Stanford a hopeful farewell, promising to take him home soon.
However, when they returned a few days later, Stanford's heart sank. The family, unable to keep him due to their rental home's no-pets policy, had to deliver the devastating news.
When the family visited him for the last time, Stanford could only stare at the family through the kennel bars, seeming to understand that his hopes of a forever home had been quickly dashed.
Foster family
Fortunately, after hearing his heartbreaking story, Humans and Animals United (HAAU) stepped in. The organisation raised funds and arranged to place the pit bull mix in a foster home.
While it's only short-term, the dog was overjoyed to at least be out of the shelter. After getting the all-clear from the vet, he was welcomed into his temporary home. Though he is still waiting for his family to adopt him, Stanford is flourishing in foster care, enjoying cosy comforts and adventures with his foster family.
An update was shared on Stanford's behalf: "My first night with my foster mommy was peaceful, [she] reassured me that I am here until my forever home is found."
Good luck, Stanford.
