Amanda was driving home after picking her daughter up from school, when she noticed something unusual on the side of the road.
At first glance, it looked like an abandoned box with a piece of rubbish hanging over the side.
A shocking find
"There was something black hanging over the side", Amanda told The Dodo. "When I began to drive by I realised it was not a bag, but a puppy".
To her horror, Amanda found an entire litter of Shepherd mix puppies inside the box. Dehydrated and disoriented, they were in desperate need of help.
Thankfully, as a regular collaborator of Amazing Mutts Puppy Rescue, Amanda and her daughter knew exactly what to do.
Guardian Angels
The mother and daughter duo rushed the puppies to the local vet, where they received the care they urgently needed.
Then, under the rescue's care, they were moved into loving foster homes to help them recuperate.
"In Texas, the rule of rescue is if you see a box out of place, check it out" explained Amazing Mutts on their Facebook page. "These special pups were lucky to have Amanda from Amazing Mutts and her daughter as guardian angels", they continued. "They had a tough beginning, but are ready to find their forever homes".
