Firefighters in the Polish town of Ożarów Mazowiecki spent nearly three hours rescuing a kitten trapped in a storm drain.

The dramatic rescue began when someone heard desperate meows coming from a storm drain at a logistics centre and placed an urgent call to emergency services.

Stuck in drain

The tiny kitten had somehow become stuck in the pipe, and its loud cries were the only clue to its location.

Once they arrived at the scene, the firefighters quickly determined that accessing the kitten would require removing a section of the surrounding pavement. The team began by chiselling away at the ground and carefully removing cobblestones from the area next to the loading ramp.

Despite the challenging conditions and the complexity of the task, they persevered.

Successful rescue mission

Just before 10pm their efforts finally paid off. The firefighters successfully freed the small ginger cat, who was promptly scooped up and comforted by one of the firefighters. The operation, though time-consuming, ended with a happy result.

The kitten is now under the care of a local shelter, where she is receiving all the attention and care she needs. It’s hoped that she won’t have to wait long to find a loving home.

What a great result!
