When animal rescue association Moustaches et Compagnie shared the story of what unfolded at a recycling plant near Ile et Vilaine, France, nobody could believe what they were reading.
Thankfully, the story had a happy ending...
Helpless cat left in an oil vat
It all began when the waste disposal team noticed an unusual shadow in the bin used to collect up and recycle old cooking oil.
Cautiously peering in, they discovered a shocking scene. A cat had been left in the oil, and with no way of getting out, she faced an almost certain death.
A human chain was put in place, with one employee fishing her out, another cleaning her up and another contacting a rescue team for help.
Not out of danger yet
The cat was immediately taken in for emergency veterinary care. But while she may have been rescued just he time, she wasn't out of the woods yet.
The cat had swallowed so much cooking oil, she had developed a severe case of pneumonia.
After an agonising 24 hour wait, she was found to be making a full recovery. The quick thinking of the waste disposal team saved the life of the poor cat. Because of their efforts, she had a second chance at happiness, surrounded by the warmth and love of a family of her own.
