Jane Carter lives in the English town of Ikeston in the county of Derbyshire. She owns a house with access to a lovely little garden.
One day she heard a noise and looked out of the window. Something unusual appeared before her eyes.
A strange animal on two legs
Jane saw an animal and initially thought it was a strange dog, but after a while she realised that it was a fox that had wandered into her garden.
But that's not all - the fox was missing its two hind legs. However, this disability did not prevent him from moving around efficiently.
"He stood up on his front legs and I couldn't believe my eyes! It was so fantastic.", Jane said in an interview.
A congenital defect
The animal appeared to be hungry, so Jane scattered some Spam in her garden. She noticed that he had no wounds on his body. It looked as though the fox was born this way.
Jane's suspicions are confirmed by wildlife expert Mike Dilger: "I think it's a genetic defect, so it's likely that the fox was born that way," he says.
"Its demeanour, balance and control are amazing. The way it moves on just two limbs really deserves to be admired. It's a beautiful survival story," adds the expert.
