NSW fire brigade respond to lots of surprising scenarios. But when they received a call from one frantic owner, they couldn't believe what they were hearing.

Firefighters are regularly called upon to help rescue pets stuck in tight spots. From cats up trees to dogs in small spaces, they're experts at dealing with difficult situations.

On this particular occasion, however, they were shocked by the scene that awaited them...

Unbelievable heights

Tabby cat Vadar had managed to get himself stuck in the ceiling, and with no way of getting him out alone, his owner called frantically asking for help.

Fire and Rescue NSW immediately agreed to help, arriving at the property in north west Sydney as quickly as they could.

Once there, they managed to locate Vadar, who had become trapped above a kitchen light fitting.

A delicate rescue

Having cut the power, the team were able to cut a hole big enough to spot the terrified pet.

Vadar stuck his head out, eager to be freed and ready to comply in any way necessary.

Thankfully, the rescue experts were able to delicately manoeuvre him out of the hole, setting him down on the kitchen table.

Nobody knows how the four-legged explorer got up there, but Vadar's owner is certain he won't be quite such an adventurer next time!
