After over 14 years confined to a rusty cage, Bruno, a senior dog in the Philippines, has tasted love and freedom for the first time.

When a volunteer for Pawssion Project heard about Bruno's plight, they immediately leapt into action to free him from his lonely existence.

First ever hug

After being freed, the dog's first stop was seeing the vet, but his former living situation had left its emotional scars on Bruno, causing him to respond angrily to everyone. Eventually, he calmed down, seemingly understanding that everyone was just trying to help him.

Remarkably, Bruno's visit to the vet was also when he got his first ever hug. One of the rescue volunteers couldn't help giving him a big cuddle. And what did Bruno do? He smiled.

His first big smile touched everyone's heart, including Malou Perez, who runs the Pawisson Project. She reassured Bruno that is how it feels to be loved and wanted. And Bruno seemed to understand and continued to smile.

First ever walk

Once Bruno arrived at the shelter, he was fascinated by the world around him and all the new sights and smells. Everyone felt emotional as they watched the once nervous and reactive dog come out of his shell and begin to enjoy his new life. Even just looking out the window seemed to bring him immense joy.

Another first for Bruno was going out on his very first walk. After being kept in the dark on his own for so long, he could now feel the sun on his face and experience nature's sights, sounds and smells.

Pawssion Project took to social media to share Bruno's story. The adorable pup is loving life and has transformed into a happy and energetic dog. And that's not all. Bruno has a loving forever home lined up where he can live his best life with his new owner and four canine siblings.
