Maeve and Maggie Jo were enjoying their cycling road trip when a stray dog began following them.
Despite the prevalence of strays in Montenegro, this dog refused to part ways with the couple, shadowing them for four days.
The dog wouldn’t give up
The women were won over by the dog’s friendliness, sweet nature and unwavering loyalty, and they were happy to take her under their wing.
Maeve and Maggie Jo took Monte to a vet to find out if she was microchipped and had an owner. But it turned out that she didn’t have a microchip and was likely a stray. That’s when the couple decided to make Monte a permanent part of their lives and adopt her.
New life in the US
Monte becomes an integral part of the women’s holiday, accompanying them across Europe before the couple secured her a pup passport so she could return to the US with them.
When the trio arrived back in the US, Monte had no problems at all settling into her new life alongside Maeve and Maggie Jo.
Now, the couple can’t imagine life without their adorable canine companion.
