Firefighters sifting through the aftermath of a blaze that tore through a Valencia apartment block uncovered a heartwarming surprise among the debris.

On 22 February 2024, flames erupted on the eighth floor of a 14-story building in Campanar, engulfing two buildings. Tragically, the fire, sparked by an electrical malfunction and fanned by strong winds, claimed the lives of ten people and left many others with serious injuries.

Unexpected survivor

However, despite the devastation, a surprising survivor, a small cat named Coco, was found amid the ruins of one of the buildings. Remarkably, Coco managed to endure eight days on its own, nestled in one of the few dry pockets of the building, two floors above its original home.
