If you think your cat is fickle about their food, you must meet Shaggy, a black cat with a surprisingly sophisticated pallet.

You see, while Shaggy enjoys a dish of standard wet cat food, he likes it accompanied by a side salad.

Sophisticated feline

Yes, Shaggy refuses to eat his cat food unless his owner, Dina Moeller, serves some leafy greens with it.

The loveable black cat came to live with Dina as a stray, and since then, he has expected nothing but the best.

Dina took to the internet to share Shaggy’s quirky behaviour, sparking a flurry of amused reactions and “warnings” from fellow cat lovers. One person took to the comments to advise Dina that cats shouldn’t be allowed to eat salad because, “long term, the cat will end up expecting a candlelit table with a glass of wine and live smooth jazz. You need to be more careful.”

Others warned Dina that by ingesting iron from the leafy greens, Shaggy could “become too strong and take over your entire family (and then the world).

Greedy guts

Meanwhile, some internet users suggested that perhaps the cat has “whisker fatigue” from eating food from a bowl. However,

Dina quickly dispels that theory with a video that showed Shaggy shoving his entire face into a bag of salad in the fridge – whiskers and all.

While Shaggy always orders the side salad off the menu, he also has a penchant for stealing his owner’s food; he’ll even grab bagels straight from the toaster or wrestle with Dina for her scone or muffin. Dina reassured fellow cat lovers that she avoids letting Shaggy eat too much human food and has discussed his food preferences with the vet.

Does your cat have any unusual dining habits like Shaggy?
