A 100-year-old woman named Johanna has proven that age is no barrier to love, compassion, and furry companionship.

Johanna, defying expectations, applied to adopt a senior dog from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, catching the attention of adoption counsellor Alice Ensor.

Ideal dog mum

Despite initial surprise, Alice discovered that Johanna had a robust support system, including a carer and her daughter, Debbie, making her an ideal candidate for adoption.

The spotlight then shifted to Gnocchi, a senior dog struggling to find a forever home after being rescued from a household with 22 dogs.

A virtual meeting sealed the deal, and Johanna instantly fell in love with Gnocchi, now affectionately known as Gucci.

Mutual companionship

A year later, their bond has flourished into a heartwarming companionship. Johanna, on the brink of turning 102, credits Gucci for bringing immense joy into her life, providing companionship and love in her golden years.

The duo has established a heartwarming routine, including cuddling in their favourite recliner and watching the news together.

Johanna's daughter, Debbie, says the pair are inseparable, describing Gucci as "spoiled rotten" and the perfect match for her mum.
