When a new baby is first brought home, it can be an adjustment for our four-legged friends, who may feel a bit put out that things have changed. But, with the right introductions and proper supervision, the bond between dog and child can blossom into a beautiful friendship.
It's clear that the Golden Retriever in this video adores his human brother. Buddy seems desperate to be near Nathan, and clearly wants to play.

A loving companion
Known for their affectionate and docile nature, this breed makes a wonderful friend to children and adults alike. And we most certainly see this in Buddy's reaction to little Nathan. He wants to be close to him, but knows to move carefully, patiently waiting for some attention.
Nathan is all smiles, reaching out to touch his furry friend. Shortly after, his laughter turns to tears, as Buddy accidentally lies down on his foot.
"Nathan loves dogs, but he doesn't know who this furry companion is in his house", explains Life with Malamutes when sharing the video on YouTube. "He's too young to remember him, but Buddy definitely remembers Nathan", as he used to look after him in his crib.
Buddy wins Nathan over
Eventually, with just the right balance of patience and perseverance, Buddy delicately manages to calm Nathan down. By observing him and taking this slowly, he's able to get close enough to Nathan to give him lots of doggy kisses.
"What a wonderful dog, using love to win over his friend" was one viewer's reaction on YouTube.
It's wonderful to see how protective and gentle he is with Nathan. "Buddy is very aware. He tries to relax, lie down and make himself smaller, until Nathan feels comfortable enough to be licked", says another.
This adorable duo are clearly developing a magical bond, and it's a real joy to see ❤️.
