Hannah Brown and her family chose the beautiful archipelago of Turks and Caikos for a well-deserved holiday, excited to spend time in this Caribbean paradise.
A beach guide
Their itinerary included white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, relaxation... and dogs!
On arrival at Sail Away Cottages, the family was introduced to Soldier, an adorable oldie who has lived there for over 10 years. Despite being blind and deaf, he wasted no time in making friends
It was a wonderful welcome, but Hannah and her family had no idea at this stage that Soldier would play such a key role during their stay.
Each morning this clever pup took it upon himself to guide the family to the beach. As you can see, being blind definitely didn't slow him down!
Work done and mission accomplished, Soldier would take himself for a swim to cool down.
Soldier's story
Soldier has mastered his morning ritual over many years, after deciding to make the holiday complex his home back in 2011. He appeared unexpectedly, but luckily the owners of Sail Away Cottages found his behaviour so endearing, they decided to adopt him.
Soldier didn't just get a roof over his head and a comfy bed to call his own. His family even put together a flyer with his photo to make sure every visitor knows about him and his story.
Thanks to his wonderful work as a tour guide, Soldier is loved by those who visit. He even offers to watch their belongings, keeping guard as they take a dip.
Soldier's story has touched the hearts of many through social media, and he has most definitely put Sail Away Cottages firmly on the map!
