CCTV cameras captured the heartwarming moments when an owner realised her missing kitty had come home! The cat was gone for more than two months.

Black cat Roddy went missing from his family home in York in early October. The wandering kitty returned on Boxing Day. In total, Roddy was MIA for over 70 days.

Roddy returns

Roddy's cat-mum, Amanda Appleyard, couldn't believe her eyes when she saw her fur baby wandering up the driveway a day after Christmas. But when she picked Roddy up and held him in her arms for the first time in months, Amanda knew that her prayers had been answered. This was Roddy, and he was home.

CCTV cameras in and outside the home captured the beautiful reunion. The footage shows Amanda running down the driveway toward Roddy. We also see adorable clips of the reunited pair catching up on some long-overdue snuggles.

Now that Roddy has returned, Amanda has made sure she'll never lose him again. Roddy now wears a new collar fitted with a GPS tracker.

Rodney's mystery adventure

"[Roddy] went missing in October, and day and night, I'd be basically praying that he would show up at the patio door," says Amanda. "I was overjoyed when he did. I don't really know how to explain the feelings...I was stunned, I was shocked, I was over the moon."

"I'm kind of glad we had the cameras on, the fact that they captured the raw emotions. I look back on it now and still get tears in my eyes."

Amanda has no idea what Roddy got up to during his mystery adventure, and Roddy isn't saying anything. But Roddy seems happy and in perfectly good health. He hadn't lost any weight while away, so Roddy was clearly getting his treats from somewhere!

In typical cat fashion, Roddy slipped back into his old routines like he was only away for a few hours.
