When shelters find new homes for dogs like Vega, they don't expect to see the pup returned to them a few years later for such a surprising reason.
Life changes
In 2015, Vega was thrilled to be adopted and taken home to what she thought would be her forever home. But sadly, that all changed recently.
Seven years after the pup was adopted, she found himself abandoned at an animal shelter. It was as if, overnight, Vega's life dramatically changed.
The couple who had adopted Vega separated, and the dog remained living with her human mum.
Foster family wanted
However, Vega's owner now has a new boyfriend and is expecting a baby. While that's not usually a problem, all the changes in the household caused Vega a lot of stress, and her owner decided that she didn't want to deal with it.
So they decided to return her to the shelter.
The Refuge of Hope animal shelter is now trying to find a foster family for Vega until they can find her a forever home. Shelters can struggle to care for senior pups like Vega, who can struggle with change and living in a shelter. It's hoped that being placed with an experienced foster family will help Vega settle until she's found the perfect family to adopt her.
Good luck, Vega!
