Never upstage the bride or groom on their big day. It's the golden rule of every wedding. Well, someone should have reminded this cheeky dog about that.
Because he showed up uninvited just as Douglas Robert and Tamíris Muzini were tieing the knot in Brazil earlier this year. And it soon became pretty obvious that he had no intention of leaving.
An univinted (and very furry) guest shows up!
The dog sat in the church during the entire ceremony, watching from the doorway as the happy couple exchanged their vows.
He waited to greet the couple with a few barks as they left the church and followed the wedding party to the sit-down dinner reception, where he got his fair share of treats!
The stray was a big hit with all the wedding guests, including the bride and groom.
"I was surprised. I thought, 'Look, there's a dog inside the church,'" said the beaming bride Tamíris Muzini. "My heart melted."
"When he greeted us outside the church at the end, he seemed to ask: 'Take me home. Take me.' And so we did."
The dog, which the couple named Braia, is adjusting to his first real home with his first real pooch parents. But it hasn't always been easy. Braia, which means strong and fearless in Portuguese, spent his entire life living on the streets of Brazil.
A perfect little family
But he's learning what life can be like when you've got a forever home and two loving humans who will never give up on you.
"Despite everything he's been through, he's still so loving. He still believes in the goodness of people," Muzini said. "He's becoming very content, energetic, and full of life. That gives us hope and so much joy."
This story was meant to have two people living happily ever after. But thanks to a little twist of fate, they picked up a special new family member who now has many years of happiness ahead.
