Around a month ago, a couple of guys were driving on a Canadian highway when they noticed a dark spot in the snow on the side of the road.
Curious, they stopped and tried to take a closer look. They quickly realised that the dark spot was actually a large Labradoodle or Goldendoodle who was lying down in the thick blanket of snow.
Doodle trapped in the snow
Unfortunately, it seemed as though the poor animal was stuck. So the guys immediately called for help.
Within minutes, staff from Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue showed up. They treaded through the knee-deep snow to attain the freezing pup, lifted her out of the ditch she was stuck in, and carried her back to their car.
On the road to recovery
Once at the vet clinic, it was discovered that the poor dog was suffering from a fever and dehydration. But with some IV fluids in her system, she quickly started to feel better. Her coat, which was heavily matted, was shaved off completely. Riley, as she was later named, started feeling like herself again!
Riley is now in a foster home where she’s learning to trust humans and to love the outdoors again. She’ll soon be ready for a real forever home - one with pawrents who will love her unconditionally, and will never leave her out in the snow!
