A home with no clean water or electricity
When Jude was rescued, his rescuers knew the road to recovery would be long. He had been living in a home with eight other dogs and several snakes, in conditions described as completely unacceptable. There was no clean water, no electricity, and the animals were plunged into pitch darkness. The RSPCA stepped in to save all the animals, and Jude was taken to the RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre.
A dog who had to learn everything from scratch
The staff tried to help him settle in, but quickly realised he had no idea what it meant to be a dog. "He didn't know what a toy was, didn't know how to walk on a lead, and didn't even know his own name," explained Renee Lodde, manager of the centre, in a statement.
With plenty of love and patience, things changed quickly. Jude now chases toys, walks nicely on a lead, and has even learnt how to play with other dogs. "He has truly transformed," Lodde noted.
More than 427 days of waiting
His friends at the shelter hoped it would not take long for him to find his forever family. Sadly, Jude has been waiting for more than 427 days. The centre is looking for a home with no other pets, no young children, and a secure garden. He will need a bit of help with house-training, which is a new concept for him, but he learns quickly and is eager to please.
Jude is still living at the RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre, where the team hopes he will soon enjoy adventures, curiosity and plenty of love as soon as the right family comes along.
