Kristen is the president of the Cowtown Friends charity.
She received a message from a woman who had spotted a dog stuck in a storm drain canal.
A perilous rescue
The poor pup was painfully thin, as you can see in the video below. Rescuers rushed to the scene as quickly as possible. The situation was actually even worse than expected... The dog was stuck in thick mud at the bottom of the canal and could not climb out on her own.
It took time and patience for the team to safely retrieve her and bring her to the shelter. And it was just in the nick of time! Two days later, heavy rain flooded the canal. If the poor dog had not been saved when she was, she would not have survived...
Months of anxiety
Once at the shelter, rescuers scanned the dog for a microchip. This simple check changed her life forever: they discovered that her name was Sadie and that her owner had been searching for her for two and a half months!
Sadie had sadly escaped from home while he was away. Since her disappearance, he had never stopped looking everywhere for her in the hope of bringing her home.
The reunion with her owner was captured on video by the shelter staff. You can see Sadie gently approaching her owner, and once she catches his scent, her tail begins to wag faster and faster. What a touching moment! We are so relieved that Sadie was reunited with her owner and is finally back home where she belongs!
