Dog trapped in a dumpster cannot call for help as her mouth is taped shut

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

On 18 October, staff at the Arpan animal shelter in Narbonne, France, were left deeply shocked by a tragic discovery.

And with good reason.

A little dog was found inside a dumpster with tape wrapped tightly around her snout.

A terrible act of cruelty

Not only did the person who abandoned the dog throw her into the rubbish bin, but they also taped her mouth shut to stop her calling for help. It was an act of extreme cruelty. The brave little dog was immediately taken in by rescuers, who named her Hope to give her a fresh start in life.

For the charity, this discovery was all the more shocking because she might never have been found. She was trapped amidst the rubbish, completely unable to bark or make her presence known.

The local community rallies round

On Facebook, the shelter spoke out against what they described as a "shameful" and "unacceptable" act. The charity acknowledged that some people face financial hardship or struggle to cope with daily life. However, they stressed that such difficulties can never justify treating an animal so cruelly.

Following the discovery, residents of Rue Mosa####, where the dog was found, joined forces to figure out what had happened. The shelter mentioned that a door-to-door enquiry will be carried out to gather any potential witness statements.

If you can no longer look after your four-legged friend, please remember that help is available by reaching out to animal welfare charities.
