Over in Iceland, a cat named Taylor is having a very unusual love affair with an object that most pets absolutely despise: the plastic veterinary cone. After she was spayed as a kitten, she had to wear this protective collar for a few days. But when the time came to take it off, her owner was in for quite a surprise.
Once she had fully recovered, Taylor simply refused to part with it. The clever kitty would actually fetch the accessory and try to put it back on herself. Seeing this highly unusual attachment, her owner decided to let her keep it.
An accessory saved for playtime
Thirteen years on, Taylor is still using her cone. She does not wear it all day long, but specifically asks for it when it is time to play. All she has to do is slip her head inside whenever she feels like it. Writing on Instagram, her owner explained that the object seems to bring out her inner kitten.
Wearing her cone seems to give Taylor permission to zoom around and go wild. As soon as the accessory is taken off, she instantly calms down and settles in for a snooze.
The most precious item in the house
For her owner, this plastic cone has become something to protect at all costs.
"I protect this cone more than any of my other belongings," Taylor's owner shared. "It brings her so much joy."
Although her family does not fully understand where this quirky habit came from, they have happily respected this daily ritual for more than a decade.
