An unexpected passenger
As he obviously couldn't deal with the animal alone – which turned out to be a bobcat – the driver immediately contacted San Antonio Animal Care Services.
Once on the scene, the specialist officers had to be extremely careful. After extracting the feline from its prison of steel and plastic, they rushed it to a local wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre (Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation).
No major fractures
Following thorough X-rays, the medical team was left in shock: the bobcat had not suffered any major fractures or serious internal injuries.
After a few days of rest, rehydration, and close monitoring to make sure there were no lasting effects, the predator was released back into the wild, far away from the busy road network.
