There was much speculation last week as to how Larry, Chief Mouser at 10 Downing Street, would take to the arrival of Andy Burnham's dog Axel.
The Prime Minister adopted the Bichon, Poodle cross from Dog's Trust Shrewsbury in 2017. But it seems the two may now be kept apart, with Larry staying in London and Axel in Manchester.
No chance of a coalition
In a BBC interview with Laura Kuenssberg, the Prime Minister explained the reason behind his decision.
"I think he's going to have to stay up north because he's kind of got that angry little man thing going on" he told the journalist.
Keeping Larry safe
"You know he's got a bit of Poodle in him. He's a Bichon Poo I think they call it, or a Poochon whatever the phrase is. He wouldn't get on with Larry, let me put it that way."
"I don't think the nation would thank me would they if I brought Axel down to disturb Larry's world. So I think staying up here" he concluded.
