Stray cat finally feels safe enough to sleep, then rescuers learn her secret

During a very cold March in Montreal, Canada, a tortoiseshell cat was seen wandering through a neighbourhood.

Several neighbours had spotted her coming and going, and one person started leaving food out for her.

Eventually, the cat decided to make a home for herself under the porch of a house. She seemed to know it was the right place to find help, and she wasn't wrong!

A humane trap

Manue, who lived in the house with the porch, left food out for the cat to gain her trust. She also set up a humane trap with some food inside, hoping to get the cat to safety. Within 24 hours, the cat was inside the trap.

Manue then called the rescuers at Chatons Orphelins Montreal for help. The team came to collect the cat, who they estimated to be around four years old and named Soukie. She was placed in a foster home and soon began to relax.

A hidden secret

However, a visit to the vet revealed a well-kept secret... Soukie was pregnant! Her foster family hadn't noticed at all. Soukie trusted them and happily accepted every meal they gave her. They went home and began preparing to welcome the new family of kittens.

One night, the cat gave birth to four beautiful kittens: two grey and two black. Soukie proved to be a wonderfully loving mother, cleaning her kittens and feeding them with great care. Since then, the foster family has been looking after Soukie and her little ones, waiting for them to be old enough for adoption. We wish this lovely little family all the best!
