Workers stop industrial shredder after hearing cries and make shocking discovery

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

At the end of September in Long Island, New York, workers heard strange noises coming from inside an industrial shredder.

They stopped the machine straight away to investigate.

As they inspected the heavy machinery, they were incredibly surprised to discover three tiny kittens inside.

A terrible danger

The little ones were probably only a few days old. If the workers hadn't noticed their faint meows, the kittens might not have survived. The workers immediately sought help and contacted local rescuer John Debacker to come and collect them.

When the rescuer arrived at the scene, he feared he would find the kittens already dead. Thankfully, he managed to pull all three kittens out of the machine, and to his immense relief, they were all alive.

Care and a safe haven

Once they were safely out of the shredder, John was able to put the small creatures into his pet carrier. They needed immediate care and, above all, a secure environment. John Debacker then transported them to a foster home with plenty of experience in looking after tiny kittens.

Of course, the rescuer also spent some time searching the building site to try and find their mother. Sadly, the mother cat was nowhere to be found.

Fortunately, their foster mum is taking wonderful care of them, bottle-feeding them until they are old enough to be independent. We wish these little ones a peaceful recovery, lots of rest, and all the strength they need to grow big and strong!
