The cat was pregnant when she was rescued, and her rescuers knew she would need a calm and safe environment for the coming weeks.
A shelter can be a noisy and stressful place for some animals, especially for those who are about to give birth.
An imminent arrival
The rescuers did their best to make a cosy nest for the cat. They suspected she would soon give birth to her kittens, but they had no idea exactly when...
They didn't have to wait long! On the very evening she arrived at the shelter, the ginger cat gave birth to seven beautiful kittens.
An adorable family
On 3rd April, when Lori White, a volunteer at the shelter, heard the young ginger cat's story, she immediately offered to foster her and her kittens. Lori, her husband, and her daughter came to pick up the lovely mum and her little ones from the shelter and took them home. They named the mother cat Kitt.
The new mum immediately felt at ease in her foster home, delighted with the attention and care she and her kittens were receiving. The kittens are doing very well and are growing bigger by the day. For now, they still need their mum, but once they are old enough, Kitt will be spayed and will be ready for adoption. We wish the whole family all the best for the future!
