Their holiday took an unexpected turn when she spotted a drowning kitten in the waters of a busy harbour.
Several people around Constance had noticed the tiny cat, but nobody was doing anything...
A spontaneous rescue
Constance did not hesitate for a single second. She threw herself into the water to try to save the little animal. In the video below, you can see Constance dive in and swim over to the kitten to bring her back to dry land. Once the little feline was out of the water, Constance wrapped her in a warm blanket.
At first, the kitten was not moving, which really worried everyone... Finally, she let out a tiny mew. This faint sign of life restored Constance's hope. Together with her partner, they took the kitten straight to the vet.
A big decision
Thanks to veterinary care, the kitten's condition improved quickly. Constance brought the kitten to stay with her host family, looking after the cat for several days to help her regain her strength. Very quickly, Constance and her partner grew deeply attached to this little survivor. They named her Spetzy and made a wonderful decision: to adopt her for life! However, one tricky step remained: the journey back to their home in the United States.
Constance placed the little cat in a suitable carrier, lined with absorbent pads in case of any accidents during the long trip. But Spetzy slept through practically the entire journey!
Once back home in the United States, the couple took their time introducing the little cat to their two dogs. Two years on, the whole family is doing brilliantly and enjoying wonderful hikes together!
A life filled with happiness!
