Rescuers at the shelter were met by a man who claimed to have found three abandoned Chihuahuas.
According to his story, he had found them all alone in a forest.
A forest "rescue"
The man dropped the dogs off at the shelter, and the rescue team took them into their care. They checked to see if the dogs were lost and if they had microchips. Out of the three, only one was chipped.
The information on the dog's microchip gave the rescuers a crucial clue... and helped them realise that the man who had dropped the dogs off had, in fact, lied to them. The chip led them to the dogs' owner, who had become homeless and had to give up his beloved pets. He had entrusted his three dogs to his son so they wouldn't end up on the streets.
A lie uncovered
Sadly, the owner's son was the very man who had brought the three Chihuahuas to the shelter, telling the staff a completely false story. The rescuers exposed the situation on social media, expressing their deep anger. In their Facebook post, they stated that while they sympathised with the former owner's sad situation, they could not condone family matters that negatively impact animals.
Obélix, the father of the other two Chihuahuas, is 8 years old, while his two children, Payette and Cookie, are around 5 or 6. The rescue is now looking for their forever homes, and they have said the dogs can be adopted together or separately. We wish them all the best for the future.
