She was heavily pregnant and could have given birth at any moment.
The shelter was already at full capacity, but the dedicated staff did everything they could to make sure the expectant mum and her future puppies were welcomed in the best possible conditions.
An urgent appeal for help
Shortly after her arrival, Marina gave birth to an incredible litter of 14 puppies! This is the largest litter ever cared for by the rescue centre, which has already saved over 20,000 animals.
With such a massive family, the shelter quickly realised they did not have the resources to care for all the puppies properly. The team put out an urgent appeal to find a partner rescue. Thankfully, Saving Hope Rescue stepped in and agreed to take on Marina and her 14 little ones.
A cosy journey
For their journey, the puppies were safely tucked into a crate on a trolley, while their devoted mum walked right alongside them. Marina kept checking in constantly to make sure all her babies were safe and sound.
Two weeks after arriving at their new rescue home, the whole family is doing brilliantly. The 14 puppies have all been given ocean-themed names: Triton, Caspian, Reef, Cove, Minnie, Finn, Marlin, Tide, Nemo, Poseidon, Ariel, Oceans, Pearl, and Coral. We wish them all the very best on their next big adventure!
