Senior dog returned to the shelter twice for a baffling reason

Life hasn't always been kind to the lovely Molly.

Molly is an 8-year-old Labrador Retriever.

Despite being a very loving dog, her family started to consider having her put to sleep.

A narrow escape

Her owners claimed that Molly was becoming increasingly "uncomfortable" around their young children. When Molly's groomer heard the family's "complaints", they immediately reported the situation to the Effingham County Animal Control (ECAC) shelter in Illinois, USA.

When the dog officially arrived at the shelter, the team could see straight away that Molly was a very affectionate dog who craved attention. She simply needed to find a family who could offer her the companionship she needed.

A new start?

Just a few weeks later, Molly was adopted. The rescue team were delighted and felt sure this was her forever family. But sadly, two months later, Molly was back at the shelter for a baffling reason. Her new owners said she was too "big" and that she barked too often, despite having met her before the adoption.

The rescuers were devastated, especially as this second abandonment was incredibly stressful for Molly. They made it their mission to find her a true forever home, and soon, the perfect match came along. A family who had lost their Labrador the previous year came to meet Molly, and the connection was instant.

Molly has since been adopted and is now thriving in her new home, as you can see in the pictures below. We wish Molly and her family all the best!
