Dog found alive after spending 19 days trapped in remote gulley in England

By Greta Inglis

A dog who vanished on the 2nd of August has been found alive, after spending 19 days alone on one of England's highest mountains.

Border Terrier Teddy was walking with his owners on Hellvelyn, when he suddenly disappeared.

His family enlisted the help of a mountain rescue team, but they feared the worst for their beloved companion.

A true survivor

Following a search that lasted nearly three weeks, a rescue team member heard barking from Dry Gill on Thursday morning.

Using drones, Teddy was found trapped in a remote gulley, visibly underweight but thankfully not injured.

Safely reunited

"The team attended and reached Teddy, who thankfully had no obvious injuries, although after nearly three weeks on the fell, had understandably lost a considerable amount of weight" explained the team.

"Around three and a half hours after the callout began, the team met Teddy's owner and the original informant at Swirls, where Teddy was handed back to his very relieved owner for onward travel to the vets."
