An army of dogs in wheelchairs takes over a beach, melting hearts on Instagram

By Lina Rayan

In Spain, dozens of dogs in wheelchairs left onlookers completely speechless during an extraordinary day out on Las Moreras beach.

Imagine sitting under your parasol at the beach. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot a dog heading towards the sea, then another, and another. You turn around to find an entire army of dogs charging madly towards the water, looking ready to conquer the coast!

This scene actually took place on 10 September 2022 in Murcia, Spain. Dozens of dogs descended on Las Moreras beach. However, their presence alone wasn't the biggest surprise, as this is already one of the region's official dog-friendly beaches.

Dogs on wheels

What made this canine beach invasion so special? It was led entirely by dogs in wheelchairs. "We don't just want dog-friendly beaches for fun, they are also therapeutic. It is a real help in so many situations," explained the @playasdogfriendlycadiz account, which shared the video.

The original post and this wonderful initiative came from the Spanish charity BichosRaros.org, which is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of animals with special needs. All of their dogs on wheels joined in the fun, equipped with life jackets, floats, and balls to ensure they had a fantastic day out.

The therapeutic benefits of the sea

Seawater has numerous health benefits. It helps these dogs by soothing muscle and joint issues, promoting skin healing, and improving circulation. You only have to look at their faces in the photo above to see how incredibly happy they are.

Even though this video was filmed back in 2022, it continues to melt the hearts of everyone who comes across it:
