He came to the shop every day, doing his best to survive on the streets despite a broken paw. He had a special technique: he would stare into the eyes of passers-by, pleading for attention and food.
A photo changes everything
Someone posted a photo of the stray cat on social media, but sadly, no one claimed him. In January, when rescuers from Little Wanderers NYC discovered the cat's story online, they knew they had to do something to help.
When they arrived, they found the cat was in a very poor state. In addition to his broken paw, he was missing many teeth, his fur was matted with dirt and grease, and he had fleas, ear infections, and worms.
A new life for Henry
The rescuers immediately took the cat to the vet for treatment. They named him Henry. After gobbling down two bowls of food, the cat began to relax. He revealed his affectionate and adorable nature, and the rescuers posted his story online.
When a woman named Colleen saw Henry's photos, she felt an instant connection with him. She sent an adoption application to the rescue centre, and shortly after, she was able to officially adopt Henry.
The cat settled into his new home with the greatest of ease. He turned out to be very playful and loves a good cuddle. He has since been given his official name, Clancy, and is now living his best life with his forever family.
