11 cats abandoned in woods get a second chance thanks to kindness of strangers

On 8 October, the Association des Chats du Bois de Vincennes et Alentours in France received a report about a feline family in desperate need of help.

A volunteer alerted the charity after discovering that a family of cats had been abandoned in the Bois de Vincennes park in Paris.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, they spotted a mother cat, eight kittens and two young females from a previous litter.

A step-by-step rescue operation

The local who had been feeding the cats decided to stop after receiving complaints from a nearby sports club, whose members threatened to call the local pound. Rescuers from the charity managed to catch the mother cat first and took her straight to a vet for a check-up.

The following day, they returned to collect the little ones. They successfully caught five kittens in the morning and two more in the afternoon. In total, seven kittens were brought to safety, but the eighth was nowhere to be found. The two young females also still needed to be retrieved.

Doing whatever it takes to save them

The charity refused to give up. Rescuers managed to trap the two other young female cats the next day. Sadly, the eighth kitten remains missing, but the ten other cats are now safe and sound. In the end, a remarkable joint effort by various volunteers and rescuers brought almost the entire family back together. It was a true wave of solidarity that saved them.

In their social media post, the charity highlighted a vital message: spaying and neutering help prevent unwanted litters and the suffering that comes with them. The rescuers also invited anyone wishing to support their work to make a donation. Huge well done to everyone involved in this major rescue!
