On 12th February, Harlo and Justine went out for a walk.
When they got back, Justine had to go out for dinner.
Strange behaviour
So, she put Harlo in his crate in the living room to keep him safe while she was out. When she returned from her dinner, she immediately opened Harlo's crate. It was then that she realised something was wrong with the Samoyed.
The dog was struggling to stand up and was unsteady on his paws. Justine knew it was impossible for him to have eaten anything toxic in the house, as he had been in his crate the whole time she was away.
A toxic substance
Fortunately, Justine lives near a 24/7 emergency veterinary clinic. She took Harlo to the vet straight away. As you can see in the video below, the poor dog could barely stand.
Tests revealed that the dog had ingested cannabis. Justine believes it must have happened during their walk before she went out for dinner. Harlo received treatment, and the medication quickly took effect. Justine has urged other dog owners to be extra vigilant on walks and to watch what their pets might eat. The good news is that Harlo is now doing much better.
