A devastating infection

Manjit Sangha developed a severe infection which led to the amputation of all four of her limbs and the loss of her spleen.

The tragedy was caused by a wound becoming infected after her dog licked it. According to several media reports, Manjit Sangha started to feel unwell after a day at work in late summer 2025.

Intensive care and a coma

Within hours, she was admitted to intensive care and placed in a coma. Doctors diagnosed sepsis, an extreme immune response to an infection which causes widespread inflammation and can lead to multiple organ failure.

Manjit spent over seven months in hospital and was finally able to return home in February 2026. In statements reported by the press, she expressed her desire to regain her independence and mobility. She hopes that advanced prosthetics will allow her to walk again and get her life back to normal.

An online fundraiser has since been launched to help pay for the prosthetics.
