He is used to seeing many animals in distress, but his latest rescue left a profound mark on him.
This was particularly because he mistook the dog he was there to save for another animal, as it was completely unrecognisable.
A case of mistaken identity
The shape he saw chained to the ground had such matted fur that he thought it was a sheep. As he got closer, Louis realised it wasn't a sheep at all. It was a dog that had been so neglected its fur was a mass of knots, preventing it from moving.
Louis unchained the dog and rushed her to an emergency vet. The poor animal had an old, untreated double fracture in her right front leg. She needed urgent surgery, which thankfully was a success. The veterinary team also shaved all her fur off, finally revealing her beautiful little face.
Waiting for a forever home
Louis decided to foster Tina himself. For now, the dog will need between 6 and 12 weeks to recover. She is enjoying Louis's garden and loves a good cuddle. She clearly craves human affection.
Louis has also noticed that she hasn't made a single sound yet, which is further proof that she was neglected in the past. He mentioned that any family interested in adopting Tina can contact him to apply. We hope Tina finds a loving family very soon.
