Harry, a ginger cat, was found wandering the streets. As reported by the website LoveMeow, it's likely the feline had been abandoned shortly before.
When he was taken in by volunteers at the US-based rescue, Tails of the Forgotten Paws, the cat was shy but curious. From the very first few days, he showed a gentle and affectionate nature, welcoming cuddles and meals with loud purrs.
Around the same time, the rescue also took in Reba, a pregnant cat. Shortly after she arrived, Reba gave birth to five healthy kittens.
A surprising new dad
Some time after the birth, Harry's behaviour took a surprising turn. To the amazement of the volunteers and staff, the ginger cat decided to “adopt” the babies.
They said he would join in with their games, watch over them, and seemed to take great pleasure in seeing them grow up in a safe environment.
A dream come true
The most moving moment came when it was time for the adoptions. Three of the kittens quickly found a loving family. Then, when an adopter decided to offer a home not only to the remaining kittens but also to Harry himself, the “cat dad’s” dream came true.
Today, Harry and his two remaining kittens, Kenny and Merle, are getting ready to start a new life together, surrounded by affection and comfort.
Reba, the kittens' mother, is also ready to find a home that will finally give her all the attention she deserves.
