In Northern Ireland, a hilarious scene is doing the rounds online. Chuck, a Golden Retriever, almost ruined Christmas dinner! His owner did everything she could to stop him from getting up to his mischief.
Luckily, a surveillance camera captured the whole thing. It shows Chuck sabotaging his owner's Christmas preparations, which gave her a real fright.
A Christmas dinner disaster
The scene unfolded on Christmas Eve in Armagh, a town in Northern Ireland. While Chuck's owner was dropping off presents at a friend's house, the Golden Retriever sprang into action.
As she returned to her car, she heard her daughter shouting desperately: "No, Chuck, no!". But it was too late. The four-legged thief had already snatched the main course and was proudly galloping towards a nearby field with the Christmas turkey.
"I couldn't believe it. He had the whole turkey in his mouth and wasn't about to let it go," the woman recalled, laughing. The chase across the field was all for nothing. Chuck, clearly in a festive mood, had no intention of sharing his feast.
A viral sensation is born
Turkey-less, but not humourless, the mother and daughter eventually went to a local butcher.
After explaining the rather unusual situation, the butcher came to their rescue and saved their Christmas dinner. "I thought my husband was going to kill me if I didn't find another turkey," the woman joked to dailymail.co.uk.
The surveillance video showing Chuck's antics was posted on social media and immediately went viral. Within hours, it had racked up thousands of likes and comments on Facebook alone.
One user wrote: "Chuck is the hero we needed this year!". Another commented: "When you want a turkey, you go get it. Respect, Chuck."
Even though Chuck refused to give up his loot, this amusing Christmas story shows just how funny and unpredictable the holidays can be, even when a four-legged thief turns everything upside down. Luckily, everyone got their festive meal in the end, and the internet got a new star.
