In Detroit, Michigan, a dog was found in a dreadful state. The animal, who was named Koa, was discovered "emaciated, exhausted and freezing cold".
The passer-by who found him immediately took him in to get him off the streets as quickly as possible.
Koa was then entrusted to the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, a local organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned animals.
A long road to recovery
A visit to the vet revealed that the young dog had no serious illnesses, but had been deeply neglected by humans.
Koa was placed in intensive care to help him get back on his feet. After a few days, encouraging signs began to show: he started to lift his head, respond affectionately to his carers, and slowly regain some weight.
A new lease of life
Placed in a foster home specialising in medical care, Koa's transformation was spectacular. He was no longer the exhausted dog found on the roadside; he became cheerful, playful, and above all, deeply grateful to be alive.
Since his rescue, several families have already offered to adopt him, convinced that this "warrior" dog now deserves a loving forever home.
