The brave dog is only one year old, but she has already experienced the worst heartbreak a dog can endure: being abandoned.
Just as the new year was beginning, Mila's owners arrived at the rescue centre with a sad request.
A heartbreaking abandonment
They wanted to surrender the dog, giving the reason that their schedules were too busy. They had kept Mila for six months before realising they couldn't give her the time or attention she needed.
Terrified by this sad abandonment, the dog is trembling all over in her kennel, as can be seen in the footage below. The poor thing can barely even look at the rescuer filming her and tries to back away as far as she can into the corner of her kennel. It's impossible not to be heartbroken watching the video of Mila, who deserves nothing but love and a warm, safe home.
An outpouring of support
The video quickly touched the hearts of internet users on the rescue centre's Instagram account, who sent their support: "We are so sorry, sweet Mila! Your forever family is out there somewhere. Hang in there, we will do everything we can to help them find you." Another wrote: "One day you won't be scared anymore and you will have a loving person to take care of you and a place you can call home!"
And their wishes came true! Just a few days after the rescue centre posted the video, someone came forward to adopt Mila. Her life behind kennel bars is now far behind her. What a relief to know that Mila is now enjoying her new forever home to the fullest!
